Introduction
At Yumzip, we believe great work happens when talented people have the trust and freedom to take true ownership of their roles. We focus on outcomes, ownership, collaboration, and the long-term impact of the work we deliver for restaurant partners.
This policy outlines how we maintain flexibility and a close-knit team spirit while keeping our data secure and our collaboration smooth. It is designed to help us work together effectively, whether we are sitting across a room or working from different cities.
Eligibility
Whether a role is fully remote, hybrid, or office-based depends primarily on the responsibilities of the position and the practical needs of the team.
Key Considerations
- Role Requirements: The daily responsibilities must be something that can be done effectively using digital collaboration tools without affecting our live system reliability or support response.
- Consistent Delivery: Team members are expected to manage their own time, stay on top of schedules, and communicate progress openly without requiring constant check-ins.
- Setup Readiness: The team member must have a reliable, quiet workspace that allows them to focus and protects sensitive data from unauthorized views.
Please Note: All remote work setups are evaluated individually. The company may adjust or update these arrangements as team needs, role shifts, or performance goals evolve over time.
Work Hours & Availability
While we value a flexible schedule, our teams still need to connect in real time to build great software and take care of our merchants.
- Availability Baseline: Team members are expected to maintain reasonable availability during agreed working hours and participate in scheduled meetings, reviews, and collaboration sessions.
- Time Logging: If your specific role requires logging active hours, please update your hours regularly through our approved internal tools.
- Calendar Clarity: Keep your shared calendar updated with your general working availability, regular breaks, and focused deep-work blocks so teammates know when it is best to loop you in.
Communication Standards
Open and clear communication is what makes a distributed team thrive. We rely on balanced communication habits to keep projects moving forward without causing burnout.
General Guidelines
- Internal Messages: For direct, project-related queries during your active hours, aim to reply within 2 hours.
- Email Response: For less urgent matters sent over email, try to get back to the sender within 24 business hours.
- Urgent Issues: If a system error or a merchant-critical issue occurs, use direct phone calls or marked urgent alerts for immediate attention.
Meetings
We encourage turning on your camera during group discussions, product walkthroughs, and company updates to help keep conversations personal and engaged. When participating in video meetings, team members should ensure they can communicate clearly and maintain a professional environment.
Equipment & Workspace
Having the right tools is essential to doing your best work safely and comfortably.
- Workplace Tools: Depending on your position and employment terms, the company may provide or assist with the hardware, testing peripherals, and secure login tools necessary for your daily work.
- Your Workspace: Your home workspace should be a dedicated area where you can focus without frequent interruptions and where company information cannot be easily seen by visitors.
- Internet Connection: A highly stable, fast internet connection is required to handle voice and video calls smoothly. Connecting to public Wi-Fi networks to handle sensitive company tasks is not permitted.
Data Security & Confidentiality
We handle valuable platform data, financial transactions, and restaurant partner files every day. Keeping this information safe is a shared responsibility that requires everyone to be vigilant.
- Secure Networks: Always log in through the company's designated secure network access portals before opening our source code, internal tools, or databases.
- Account Protection: Two-factor authentication must stay enabled on all your work accounts, including GitHub, communication channels, and cloud platforms.
- Device Protection: Lock your screen whenever you step away from your workspace. Your work computer and access credentials must never be shared with family, friends, or anyone outside the company.
- Security Checks: Our security team may perform basic, non-intrusive safety checks on systems used for work to ensure protection against security risks.
Performance Expectations
We measure success by what you achieve and the quality of your work, not by the number of hours you sit at a desk.
Depending on your team, focus areas will typically center around clear practical milestones:
- Product & Tech: Meeting your sprint goals, writing clean and secure code, and helping to fix high-priority platform issues quickly.
- Support & Experience: Keeping merchant satisfaction scores high, answering inquiries accurately, and solving technical issues efficiently.
- Growth & Marketing: Reaching user acquisition milestones, keeping campaign executions timely, and maintaining strong brand standards.
Attendance & Leave
Taking time off to rest and recharge is vital, and remote work requires the same open communication about leave as any other setup.
Please submit standard, planned time-off requests through our internal channel at least 48 hours ahead of time, and give at least 2 weeks' notice for longer vacations. If a sudden illness or emergency comes up, update your manager via message as early as possible before the start of the typical workday.
Expenses & Reimbursements
We want to ensure you have a functional environment to perform your role effectively.
- Workplace Stipends: Specific stipends, such as internet support or equipment allowances, may be available based on your employment type, location, and contract details.
- Submitting Claims: All eligible business expenses must be pre-approved by your lead and submitted with valid receipts through our financial reporting tool by the designated monthly closing date.
Compliance & Professional Conduct
Our core values of respect, professionalism, and inclusion apply to every interaction, whether it happens in person or digitally.
All online discussions, messages, and code reviews should remain professional and collaborative. Sharing confidential company info, engaging in unapproved outside work that conflicts with Yumzip, or engaging in online workplace harassment will result in a direct review of your position, up to immediate termination.
Policy Updates
Yumzip may update this policy occasionally to match new security standards, local regulations, or shifts in how our business operates. We will always notify the team through our main communication channels whenever important revisions are made.
